The Bank of Montreal relocated their Guildford Branch to a new stand- alone commercial retail unit prominently located on the Guildford
Town Centre site. This new facility, situated in an adjacent lot at the shopping mall, is just over 6000 sf and provides retail banking amenities and offices. During the design, ZAS routinely met with the client to discuss important aspects of the project to ensure new BMO Retail Design Standards were adhered to. A primary goal of the client was for visual and functional integration. The exterior has been designed to incorporate BMO’s brand identity so that customers can easily recognize the new branch when traveling through the parking lot and surrounding streets. Materials were chosen to enforce this identity while also being in harmony with the surrounding buildings. The interior space was designed to be open and transparent while simultaneously designed with security in mind for cash handling duties. Sustainability measures were addressed through an integrated building information system which was installed to allow BMO facilities management to monitor and control lighting, HVAC and security controls.
